What we collect,<br>and what we do with it
Written to be read rather than to be defensible. If anything here is unclear, call us and ask.
Otium Talent Corp is the organisation responsible for the personal information described here. We handle it under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Ontario employment law.
Cookies and tracking
Nothing that identifies you is loaded until you say yes. When you first arrive we ask, using the banner at the bottom of the screen. Until you accept, no advertising or analytics cookie is set and no request goes to Google.
If you accept, we load Google's advertising tag. It uses cookies to tell us that a visit turned into a phone call, an email or an application, so we know which advertising is worth paying for. We use Google's Consent Mode, which means your choice is passed to Google rather than assumed. We do not use it to build a profile of you, and we do not sell anything to anyone.
If you decline, the site works exactly the same. You can change your mind by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the question back.
One cookie is always present regardless of your choice: the one that remembers the answer you gave, so we do not ask on every page. It contains nothing but that.
If you apply for work
We collect your name, phone number, email, city, the roles and shifts you want, whether you are entitled to work in Canada, whether you have transport, and your resume if you attach one. We use it to match you to work and to contact you about it.
We do not ask for your Social Insurance Number on this website, and you should not send it to us by email or text. If you are hired we collect it once, through the secure worker portal, because payroll legally requires it. It is never shared with a client, in any circumstances.
Identity and work authorisation documents are collected after an offer, not before. That is deliberate: citizenship and immigration status are protected grounds under the Ontario Human Rights Code, and asking earlier than necessary is how an agency ends up screening on them.
What a client is told about you
When we place you, the client is told what they need to run their site safely and lawfully: your name, the role, and your shifts. Nothing else goes without asking you.
If a client asks for proof of your right to work, our normal answer is a signed letter from us confirming we hold and have verified the documents. That is what an auditor actually needs, and it keeps your passport out of an email chain. If a client genuinely needs copies, we ask you first, in writing, for that specific client, and we record that you agreed. You can refuse, and you can withdraw it later.
If you contact us as an employer
We keep your name, company, phone, email, the site and what you need staffed, so we can call you back and quote. We use it for that and nothing else.
How long we keep it
Applications we did not proceed with: two years, then deleted, so we can come back to you if something suitable turns up. Records for people we employed: as long as Ontario employment and tax law requires us to, which is generally seven years for payroll. Identity and work authorisation documents: while you are on our roster and for the period we are required to be able to show we checked.
Where it is kept
On a server in Toronto, Canada. Documents are stored separately from the database and are never included in a copy of the project. Access is limited to the people who need it to do the work, and every disclosure to a client is logged.
What you can ask us to do
You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or withdraw a consent you gave. Call 647-614-3757 or email office@otiumtalent.com. We will answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with how we answered, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If we change how we use your information we will change this page, and we will not apply a new use retroactively to information you gave us under the old one.
